The de Lima ‘Rocky Horror Show’
FORTHEuninformed, according to Wikipedia,The Rocky Horror Show is a musical with music, lyrics and book by Richard O’Brien.
A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1940s through to the early 1970s, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a madtransvestitescientistunveiling his new creation, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially-made, fully grown, physically perfect muscle man named Rocky Horror, complete “with blond hair and a tan.”
And in its second week of performance in what is then known as the “hallowed halls of the Senate” is a version of that musical comedy without the music of course. And the main cast is Sen. Leila de Lima supported by Sen. Antonio Trillanes with their creation, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially-made witness, Edgar Matobato.
Senator de Lima, just by being herself, is terrifying enough. Add her outrageous outfits complete with the scarf, her antics and – Godforbid – thatpicture of her in a bikini is enough to make grown men run in terror.
Meanwhile, her co-star Senator Trillanes seems miscast as people find him more amusing than terrifying. His resumé is taking over two 5-star hotels and then surrender by 5p.m. with no accomplishments except consuming a month’s supply of food and booze from the hotel’s restaurants.
I find that pathetic and quite amusing.
And Edgar Matobato, according to Sen. Panfilo Lacson, “this guy just finished Grade I yet he made fools of two senators.” Let me add the New York Times, CNN, BBC and the rest of the foreign media.
Let’s talk about the stellar performance of Senator de Lima in her first major starring role in a major production produced by the entire nation paid for in taxes. The people’s money wasted in her B movie-level production was probably enough to feed an entire barangay for a week, maybe even vaccinate against rabies the entire dog population of Pasay where the Senate is located.
Sept.19 – first walk out due to Sen. Allan Cayetano’s privilege speech saying she is destroying the image of the country and the integrity of the Senate abroad. Senator Cayetano accused de Lima of using her committee “to go out after the President.”
“She is using the committee not for fact-finding on extrajudicial killings but to go after the President,” he said.
After Cayetano’s speech, Sen. Manny Pacquiao moved to declare the chairmanship and the membership of the committee vacant. The senators then voted 16-4 to oust beleaguered Senator de Lima as chairman of the Senate committee on justice and human rights.
Oct. 3, Senator de Lima walked out after being chastised by the committee chairperson for “material concealment.”
An “umbraged” Sen. Richard Gordon chastised the neophyte senator for failing to disclose early on that her star witness Edgar Matobato, who claims to be a hit man for the so-called DDS, has a pending case for the supposed kidnapping of a certain Salim Makdum.
And that, in a nutshell, is the performance of Senator de Lima.We should also include her hysterical press cons, the melt down after being told off by Senator Gordon to complete the whole ensemble.
What I am really afraid of is the impending spectre of the “sex tapes” of Senator de Lima being shown in Congress. The House of Representatives are having their own investigations on the involvement of Senator de Lima in the proliferation of illegal drugs in the Bilibid penitentiary.
According to the Justice Secretary and the Speaker of the House, the “sex tapes” of Senator de Lima is material to prove her connection and as a protector of illegal drugs. In those tapes she is filmed having sex with a convicted drug lord and her driver who is alleged to be her conduit with the drug lords at Bilibid.
If the “sex tapes” are indeed shown in Congress, a lot of men will suddenly lose their appetites; there will be an epidemic of men throwing up violently and possibly a lot of people will suddenly become vegetarians./PN
