BACOLOD City – One hundred boxes of pirated digital video discs (DVDs) were seized by members of the Optical Media Board (OMB) inside a cell phone and computer supplies store at the downtown area on Sunday.
The boxes were stocked at the fourth floor of a store building owned by Gilsie Bacalso Tecson where several DVD burners were also found.
OMB chairman Anselmo Adriano said the DVDs might have directly been bought from China and sold in the Philippines.
The OMB received reports that the supplier here is distributing the illegal DVDs to Iloilo, Roxas City and Kalibo, Aklan, and other parts of Western Visayas.
Authorities also confiscated pirated DVDs sold at the sidewalk of several stores at the downtown area, including 43 boxes of blank DVDs.
The OMB estimated the confiscated items to be worth around P23 million.
The confiscated items will be shipped to Manila as evidence for charges to be filed against the owner. (ABS-CBN News)
