ILOILO City – Where is Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-identified drug lord Richard Prevendido of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district?
Police sources said Prevendido is somewhere in northern Iloilo where there are lots of beach resorts.
Prevendido initially hid in his beach resort in the 1st District when the Philippine National Police launched on July 1 the Oplan Double Barrel campaign against illegal drug, sources said.
Lately, Prevendido moved to another resort but in northern Iloilo, according to police sources.
The police have been arresting relatives and even a son of Prevendido suspected to be involved in illegal drugs, but there has been no sign of the suspected drug lord in the city.
“We believe Prevendido is still here. He’s just hiding,” said Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
Iloilo Police Provincial Office director Senior Superintendent Roderick Augustus Alba said he has men in northern Iloilo hunting for Prevendido.
“I already directed my police chiefs and my tracker teams to monitor the high-value targets, including Prevendido,” Alba said.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency is also hot on the tracks of Prevendido. “Sooner or later pag hindi sila mag-surrender, baka madisgraysa pa sila,” said Assistant Regional Director Levi Ortiz.
The PRO-6 called out Prevendido after the surrender last week of Jesus “Jing-jing” Espinosa Jr., ranked No. 2 in the Iloilo City Police Office – Police Station 1’s list of suspected drug personalities in the City Proper and a friend of slain suspected drug lord Melvin “Boyet” Odicta Sr.
The police and PDEA believed Prevendido was a competitor in the drug trafficking business of Odicta.
“We are calling him to surrender and we assure his safety. He would not be harmed should he surrender,” said Gorero./PN
