BACOLOD City – The business permit of the DPL Rent a Car & Tours / DPL Airport Shuttle Services on Lopez Jaena Street may be revoked.
Councilor Dindo Ramos, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on transportation, claimed the company was found to be operating a colorum vehicle.
In a covert operation on Tuesday, a Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) “asset” told the office head Luisito Acebuche that the DPL collected from each van passenger P250 for a trip from here to Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
That the DPL collected fare from the passengers individually was considered a colorum operation, said Acebuche.
Ramos said he told Acebuche to submit a report on the operation.
But Ramos already said he will recommend that the city council pass a resolution asking the City Legal Office to revoke DPL’s business permit.
On Oct. 7, the transportation committee conducted a public hearing on the matter in light of a complaint from Vallacar Transit, Inc. manager Rene Macasa.
Ramos said DPL operator Glendale Depasucat insisted their seven-unit rent-a-car business was not operating colorum (without franchise) vans.
But Tuesday’s operation proved otherwise, said the councilor.
Earlier Acebuche said they discovered that more than seven vehicles were parked at the establishment.
The BTAO impounded the vehicle it targeted in Tuesday’s operation.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board will impose on the DPL a P200,000 fine.
Depasucat stressed the vehicle was not colorum, saying they have documents that can prove it was ferrying passengers as a group./PN
