BACOLOD City – MassKara Festival revelers at the public plaza got to have nightly entertainment for three nights with the parade of 38 contestants wearing elaborate fantasy-inspired costumes.
Called the “Nights of Mardi Gras,” events manager Israel Salanga said the event showcased glamorous and artistic designs of the Bacoleños.
Each night since Monday (Oct. 10), a group of mardi gras-like models showed off their costumes at the plaza bandstand, then paraded around Gatuslao, Gonzaga, and San Juan sides of the plaza.
Revelers dining and drinking at the kiosks enjoyed watching the models, while some in the crowd took photos.
The “Nights of Mardi Gras” started immediately after the singing and dance contests, called “Tanda! Sing Na, Dance Pa!,” also held at the Gatuslao, Gonzaga, and San Juan sides of the plaza.
On Monday, 16 participants joined; and 22 on Tuesday.
The top 10 semi-finalists on Monday and another 10 on Tuesday came back last night for the grand finals. The prizes were:
* champion – P10,000
* first runner-up – P7,000
* second runner-up – P5,000
* third runner-up – P3,000; and
* fourth runner-up – P2,000./PN
