BACOLOD City – Councilor Ricardo Tan accused this city’s private garbage hauler of failing to do its job.
For a fee of P15 million monthly, IPM Construction and Development Corp. was contracted to collect garbage all over the city.
It’s a failure, said Tan in a privilege speech during yesterday’s session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Aside from media reports about IPM’s lackluster performance, Tan also cited the complaints against the garbage contractor he received from residents.
“We deserve no less than our money’s worth. We need to inform our people about our garbage contractor’s performance,” said Tan.
The city government’s Department of Public Services (DPS) has the task of monitoring the contractor’s performance, added the councilor.
Tan recalled that on Aug. 30, 2016 the city council granted Mayor Evelio Leonardia the authority to enter into a contract with IPM but with a colatilla that DPS be required to submit a monthly monitoring report about the garbage contractor to the city council./PN
