KALIBO, Aklan – Six towns in Aklan will carry out P15,281,190.90 worth of projects funded under the government’s Bottom-Up Budgeting (BuB).
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional director Anthony Nuyda handed over checks to the towns during the 25th Local Government Code anniversary celebration at the DILG regional office in Iloilo City.
New Washington received P8.4 million, while Tangalan got P4.9 million for their “evacuation projects.”
Makato got P950,000 for its infrastructure projects, while Buruanga received P286,199.48 for the rehabilitation of its roads.
Flood control projects in Madalag will be funded with P594,991.42, and Altavas was given P250,000 from the Recovery Assistance on Yolanda 2 project savings.
The BuB is a budget reform program that promotes people participation in the budget process in over 42,000 barangays starting 2012.
It has been recognized as one of the five Best Practices in Fiscal Transparency from around the world during the Open Government Partnership Summit in November 2015 in Mexico City. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
