ILOILO – District engineers must ensure all ongoing construction projects have proper signage and warning signs.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional director Wenceslao Leaño gave this instruction in light of a directive from Secretary Mark Villar, said Vivian Tan regional information officer.
Starting on Friday the DPWH will carry out Lakbay Alalay, a program in observance of the All Saints’ and All Souls’ days.
Under the program, legible informational and directional signs must be installed in visible locations along national roads.
Pavement markings must be reflectorized and road sections well-maintained and free from potholes, too.
District engineers were also advised to provide traffic advisory for alternate routes bypassing traffic-congested areas and road sections where construction activities are ongoing, said Tan.
Villar stressed local DPWH offices must properly coordinate with local government units, the police and the Land Transportation Office as needed.
Lakbay Alalay ends at noon on Nov. 2. (PNA)
