SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Education (DepEd) division of Antique is slated to host the 2017 West Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet set from Feb. 1 to 5 at the Binirayan Sports Complex.
The WVRAA Meet is a yearly sports event participated by the provinces of Iloilo, Guimaras, Capiz, Aklan, and Antique.
Dr. Celestino Dalumpines IV, DepEd Antique’s information officer said that several schools and local government units have already been reminded to prepare their sports areas as these will be used for the games
Arnis is set to be played at the Patnongon covered gym, 25 kilometers north of San Jose, the main venue of the WVRAA 2017.
Meanwhile, Taekwondo will be played at the Belison Municipal covered gym, some15 kilometers north of San Jose.
Basketball games will be played at the Binirayan Sports complex, the Barangay San Pedro Gym and the Hamtic covered court.
With the annual meet expected to be a big event, the organizers have plotted other sports venues, such as Gaisano Mall of Antique for billiards, the San Jose New Municipal Market Hall (sepak takraw and sipa), Robinson’s Place (wushu), and Tuburan Sang Kabuhi Hall (table tennis). (PNA)
