ILOILO – A motorcycle crashed into a cement mixer parked along the road in Barangay Balabag, Pavia town. One of the three riders died.
The 20-year-old Ronald Piño of Barangay Tubungan, Barotac Nuevo was injured on the head. He was taken to Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Mandurriao, Iloilo City but declared “dead on arrival” around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
Ramil Peñalbier, 19, and Reniel Calabillo, 22 — both of Barangay Tumpon, Pototan — sustained minor wounds on the body.
All drunk, the three came from Barangay Aganan, Pavia, the municipal police said.
Witnesses told the police the motorcycle was speeding. Peñalbier was driving.
Peñalbier may have failed to see the cement mixer, Senior Police Officer 1 Roger Patingo said.
While Peñalbier and Calabillo just fell to the ground, Piño was thrown off the motorcycle, said the police.
Peñalbier and Calabillo were still confined at the WVMC as of this writing. Peñalbier had no driver’s license./PN
