ILOILO City – This city received a P3-million fund from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The amount came with the Seal of Good Local Governance, which was conferred to city hall in a ceremony that highlighted the 25th anniversary celebration of the Local Government Code on Thursday at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.
All Seal awardees were given the Performance Challenge Fund, which they can use to implement local development projects.
“Through this award, several opportunities await your (local government),” DILG secretary Ismael Sueno said.
“These include entitlement to access Performance Challenge Fund, facilitation of loan approval through the issuance of Good Financial Housekeeping Certification, and other program windows subject to specific guidelines,” he said.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the award affirmed the city government’s outstanding good governance and excellent delivery of social services.
“We continue to find ways to promote and improve our work in good governance,” he said. “It is only through unity and cooperation in implementing our programs that we can attain our dreams for Iloilo City.”
The city was one of the 306 local governments that passed the DILG’s test of good local governance across several areas after an assessment based on upgraded criteria from March to September.
City hall passed all minimum parameters of core components, including financial administration, social protection and disaster preparedness, and met measures on the essential areas of business friendliness and competitiveness, peace and order, and environmental management.
Sueno said, “[We] hope your (local government) sustains its remarkable performance and commitment as we endeavor to carry on our journey toward tapat at mahusay na pamahalaang lokal.” (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
