ILOILO City – A grenade exploded in front of a house in Barangay East Baluarte, Molo district around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday.
From what the Molo police station so far gathered, a man in a white car lobbed the grenade – later determined to be an M26.
Stephen Guanco owned the house. He operated a skating park adjacent to the house, according to the police.
Senior Inspector Mark Cordero, Molo police chief, did not discount the possibility that warring groups of young skating enthusiasts may be behind the blast.
They often hanged out at the park, said Cordero.
The 14-year-old Aira Marie Dela Peña sustained slight injuries on her right arm.
“The car quickly left,” according to Cordero.
The Molo police secured the recordings of security cameras in the areas in the hope of identifying the culprit.
“There could be a gang war,” said Cordero./PN
