ILOILO City – A suspected solicitor of bets for an illegal numbers game was arrested in Barangay Ginit-an, San Joaquin, Iloilo.
The 51-year-old Salvador Espinosa of Barangay Taslan, San Joaquin was detained at the municipal police station on Monday.
Around 4:30 p.m., policemen patrolling Barangay Ginit-an spotted him soliciting bets.
The suspect yielded a ball pen, pieces of paper and P173 cash.
Espinosa faces a charge for violating Republic 9287 that outlaws illegal gambling, specifically Section 3 (c).
If found guilty by the court for being a collector or agent (cabo, cobrador, coriador or variants thereof), Espinosa faces the penalty of imprisonment from eight years and one day to 10 years./PN
