ILOILO City – Two agricultural service providers from the municipality of Tubungan, Iloilo are among the finalists of the 2016 Search for National Organic Agriculture Achievers’ Awards (NOAAA).
Ma. Asuncion Tabucuran, municipal agriculturist of Tubungan, vied for the Outstanding Municipal Organic Agriculture Focal Person award, while Marjorie Tacardon was shortlisted for the Outstanding Agricultural Extension Worker Category.
Tabucuran was appointed as municipal agricultural officer in 2000 and was promoted to municipal agriculturist in 2005. On the other hand, Tacardon has been working as Agricultural Technician I since 2001 and became member of the Municipal Local Technical Committee on Organic Agriculture. She significantly helped in the drafting of the organic agricultural road map of the town.
Both of them served as key drivers in the successful implementation of the Organic Agriculture Program in Tubungan, said Vicente T. Gargaritano Jr., municipal mayor.
They also championed the municipality’s organic black rice and vegetable production.
“I am grateful for the hard work and dedication of the Municipal Agriculture Office in bringing a lot of organic agricultural projects in the locality that enabled the high production of safe and organically grown food products,” Gargaritano added./PN
