BACOLOD City – A 20-year-old man who was suffering from asthma shot himself dead on Tuesday in Silay City while a 21-year-old woman attempted to end her life by jumping from Sum-ag Bridge in Bacolod City on Wednesday.
The Silay City police refused to identify the victim due to the request of the family.
He reportedly took his uncle’s .9mm-pistol and shot himself on the chest.
He was rushed to Teresita Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, Ramelyn Lachica, a resident of Purok Bagong Hilway, Barangay 22, Bacolod City, jumped off Sum-ag Bridge but was immediately rescued by her companion.
She sustained body injuries and was rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.
The victim’s companion said a family problem led Lachica to commit suicide.
The victim is currently in stable condition, police disclosed./PN
