BORACAY – Police arrested a Taiwanese tour guide in a drug buy-bust operation here on Thursday.
The 54-year old Wei-Tang Yao, also known as “Julian,” sold a plastic pack of suspected shabu to an undercover officer for P1,000 around 1 a.m. on Road 1A, Sitio Bulabog, Barangay Balabag.
Five more plastic packs of suspected shabu, an improvised water pipe and a passport were further seized from the suspect.
The foreigner was from Taipei but temporarily staying in Barangay Balabag. He has been in Boracay for more than a year.
He was detained in the lockup cell of the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC). He admitted using drugs but denied selling them to his guests.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Operatives from the Municipal Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group of Malay, the BTAC, the Provincial Public Safety Company, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and the 605th Maritime Police staged the operation. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
