ILOILO City – The investigation of the city council on the barangay captain of Desamparados, Jaro district, Noemi Jablo, and two other village chiefs on the proliferation of illegal drugs in their respective turfs will continue.
The death of Jablo’s husband, drug suspect Rusty Jablo, in General Santos City, South Cotabato province on Tuesday won’t hamper the probe, stressed Councilor Jeffrey Ganzon, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s (SP) committee on police matters, public safety and illegal drugs.
“Lain man to nga issue kay (Rusty Jablo). Ang amon investigation naka-focus sa kapitanes,” said Ganzon.
Drug suspect Rusty Jablo was a high-value target of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Ganzon said Rusty’s case was “more on individual criminal liability” while that of his wife and the two other barangay captains was related to their responsibility in the campaign against illegal drugs.
The two other barangay captains under SP investigation are Remia Prevendido Gregori of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district and Keith “Dabing” Espinosa of Monica-Blumentritt, City Proper.
Illegal drugs are rampant, too, in the two barangays, according to PDEA and Iloilo City Police Office.
Tomorrow, Nov. 25, the city council will resume its investigation.
Jablo’s husband committed suicide at a police station in General Santos City. He hanged himself./PN
