MANILA – Christine Joy Soyud will not be part of the De La Salle University Lady Spikers team set to defend its championship in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament early next year.
Lady Spikers head coach Ramil de Jesus confirmed that the La Carlota, Negros Occidental-native Soyud left the team last August after failing to adapt to his system.
“May mga pinapagawa ako sa kanya na ‘di niya ginawa so pinag-decide ko siya na pag di ka pa rin nagpakita, good as wala ka na sa team,” De Jesus said in an interview with Spin.ph.
While De Jesus does not know if Soyud has transferred to a different school, a source told Panay News that the former Doña Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School standout is headed to Adamson University Lady Falcons.
Soyud had an impressive rookie season for the Lady Spikers as she carried the load for the team in their runner-up finish in the Season 77 at the expense of the Ateneo Lady Eagles.
However, Soyud’s numbers and minutes suddenly went down in her second year with the team following the entry of new players and the return of Ara Galang from a knee injury.
Soyud’s last stint with De Jesus was when she joined her fellow Lady Spikers as the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference where they won the crown./PN
