ILOILO – Terror alert level 3 may be applicable to other areas but not in Iloilo, according to Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr.
“Ano abi pagka-level 3 ta diri ‘ya? Daw waay man sang rason,” said Defensor.
Philippine National Police director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa disclosed Thursday that the entire country had been placed under terror alert level 3.
The announcement came after the failed bomb attack near the US Embassy in Manila and after the military had regained control of the municipality of Butig, Lanao del Sur province from the terrorist Maute Group on Saturday.
But the governor joined with Defense secretary Delfin Lorenzana in his assessment that there were not enough bases for the declaration and two incidents were not enough also to suspend the writ of habeas corpus.
“I am not capable of making an assessment pero kon perception lang ang pamangkot, I am inclined to take the position of the Defense Secretary that at this time, under present circumstances there is no reason or basis for raising the alert level to No. 3,” the governor said.
Even the ceasefire of the government with the New People’s Army is holding, added Defensor.
“Ang inaway ‘ya sa Butig man lang, ti tapos naman kay nabawi naman sang military,” said Defensor./PN
