MANILA – There is much more to hear from Ronnie Dayan, former driver and bodyguard of Sen. Leila de Lima, a senator disclosed.
“May mga gusto siyang sabihin sana kahapon pero ‘di siya nagkaroon ng pagkakataon,” said Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, chief of the Senate Committee on Public Order investigating the killing of Albuera, Leyte mayor. Ronaldo Espinosa Sr.
“Sabi niya meron siyang gusto sabihin pero ‘di malinaw sa mind niya masyado.”
Lacson also said that Dayan expressed willingness to cooperate for future hearings.
On Monday, Sen. Manny Pacquiao cited Dayan in contempt for his evasive responses.
However, senators Lacson and Vicente Sotto III decided to release de Lima’s ex-aide after a “debriefing.”
“Napagisahan namin total he will make himself available, at saka nariyan ang asawa, mga anak naawa kami,” Lacson said.
The lawmaker said that Dayan was escorted to his home by the Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“Pinaalalayan na lang namin sa PNP i-secure na lang doon at kung magkaroon pa ng susunod na pagdinig sabi niya willing siya,” he shared.
The public order panel invited Dayan to its inquiry after alleged Eastern Visayas drug lord Kerwin Espinosa claimed giving de Lima about P8 million in drug money through her former driver.
Lacson said they are looking to conduct another hearing before the Christmas break./PN
