ILOILO City — Lawyer Edeljulio Romero defended his driver who was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sto. Niño Norte, Arevalo district.
Romero said in a radio interview that his 42-year-old driver, Renate Torreña is not a drug pusher.
“He might have used drugs but he is not pushing illegal drugs. I wonder why he was arrested,” Romero said.
However, Insp. Grace Borio of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Group (RAIDSOG) said that before Torreña was arrested, they conducted a test buy.
“We were able to buy a sachet of shabu from him,” Borio stressed.
Torreña was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 3:15 a.m. on July 25.
A resident of Barangay South San Jose, Molo, Torreña sold a sachet of shabu for P500 to a poseur-buyer and after another five sachets of shabu were recovered from him./PN
