BACOLOD City – A former policeman was shot dead around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2.
Ernie “Jam” Jaminal, 50, a native of Cauayan town, sustained three gunshot wounds on his head and back. The unidentified suspect used a .45-caliber pistol, police said.
Three empty shells of the same caliber were recovered at the crime scene.
Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias said it was possible that the shooting was planned.
Jaminal was discharged from police service after he tested positive for illegal drugs two years ago. He was also arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The former Police Officer 3 was an instructor of the Special Action Force. He took a refresher course at Victorias City Regional Public Safety Battalion but went on an absence without leave, police disclosed.
Police are still investigating the motive of the incident as of press time./PN
