ILOILO City – Betting slips, a pen and P600 cash were confiscated from a suspected bet solicitor for the illegal numbers game “bookies.”
The 39-year-old Danny Yanco was caught in Barangay Talokgangan, Banate, Iloilo on Dec. 9. He was taken to the municipal police station.
Roving policemen spotted Yanco soliciting bets around 6 p.m.
Yanco faces a charge for violation of Republic Act 9287 (an Act increasing the penalties for illegal numbers games, amending certain provisions of Presidential Decree No. 1602, and for other purposes).
If found guilty by the court for being a collector or agent (cabo, cobrador, coriador or variants thereof), the suspect faces the penalty of imprisonment from eight years and one day to 10 years./PN
