ILOILO City – The classic rivalry of collegiate titans Ateneo Lady Eagles and De La Salle University Lady Spikers is set to paint Iloilo blue and green when they invade the city on Jan. 7 next year at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
“Let’s make some noise volleyball fans! All is set for this blue versus green match brought to us by Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. and Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog,” shared sportsman Ruding Villaruz, one of the organizers of the highly-anticipated event.
Already confirmed for the Iloilo clash of the UAAP archrivals are Lady Eagles star Amy Ahomiro and La Salle volley belle Mika Reyes, as well as PLDT Home Ultera ambassadors Jaja Santiago, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Rachel Daquis, and College of St. Benilde cager Johnvic De Guzman.
The event is also expected to be a homecoming of sorts for Ilonggas Aby Maraño (who traces her roots from Passi City) and Jovelyn Gonzaga (a proud product of Central Philippine University), who is set to reinforce Team La Salle. Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors hitter Myla Pablo is also slated to join Team La Salle during the game.
Aside from the court clash, the respected spikers are going conduct volleyball clinics on the morning of Jan. 7 and a meet and greet dinner with fans the night before.
Part of the proceeds from the event will go to the Psychiatry Department of the West Visayas State University Medical Center.
Tickets are available at the Iloilo City Hall Sports Office./PN
