KALIBO, Aklan — An agricultural technologist of the municipal government here has been chosen as a Dangal ng Bayan awardee this year.
Alicia Rebuelta, 55, will be conferred the award in September at the Malacañang’s Heroes Hall.
The awarding ceremony is one of the highlights of the 114th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration themed, “Tapat na Serbisyo Alay Ko Dahil Lingkod Bayani Ako.”
A mother-of-two native of Malinao town, Rebuelta has been working in government for 33 years now. She is married to Paterno Rebuelta, an associate professor at the Aklan State University main campus in Banga.
She is one of the 10 Dangal ng Bayan awardees cited in Memorandum Circular No. 17 dated July 24, 2014 issued by CSC chairman Dr. Francisco Duque III.
Prior to this prestigious Civil Service Commission (CSC) recognition, Rebuelta was a recipient of various other awards, namely:
- regional Gawad Saka Award for Outstanding Rural Improvement Club,
- National Rice Achiever Award, 2013
- Outstanding Kalibo Municipal Employee, 2011; and
- regional Outstanding Municipal Focal Person for Organic Agriculture, 2014.
Dangal ng Bayan Award is conferred to an individual for his extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of his observation of the eight norms of conduct under the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Each awardee will receive P200,000 cash and a trophy designed by National Artist for Sculpture Napoleon Abueva.
The awardees are also entitled to incentives in the form of bonuses, citations, directorships in government-owned and -controlled corporations, local and foreign scholarship grants, paid vacations, and automatic promotion to the next higher position with commensurate salary suitable to their qualifications.
Fifteen individuals — police officers, a midwife, a state auditor, a public works heavy equipment operator, a veterinarian, a fire officer, a government jail officer, a hospital chief, a state university research associate, a government information officer, an agricultural technologist, and a mayor — made it to the shortlist of semifinalists in June.
