ILOILO City – Three drunken friends, including a minor, face attempted homicide and malicious mischief charges for attempting to stab a 27-year-old man in Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo district.

The three were Remy Ignacio, 23, of Barangay Bawang, San Remegio, Antique; Wenny Olalio, 21, of Barangay Sinontolan; and a 17-year-old lad.

They attempted to stab Leomar Forteza, 27, of Zone 14, Barangay Calaparan, said P02 Rex Diaz, police investigator of the Arevalo police station.

Prior to the stabbing, Forteza saw the three urinating in the middle of the road. He reprimanded them and continued walking to a store.

On coming back, he saw the three men blocking his path and berating him for reprimanding them.

It was then that one of the three pushed a knife to his direction. He evaded the attack and ran away.

The suspects chased Forteza up to his house. Unable to catch him, they banged and stoned the gates.

Responding barangay tanods arrested the suspects and turned them over to the Arevalo police.

Olalio and Ignacio are now detained at the Arevalo police station while the 17-year old suspect was under the custody of Balay-Dalangpan – a center for children in conflict with the law – in Bo. Obrero, La Puz./PN
