ILOILO City – Two drunken men were arrested in Barangay Tolarucan, Mina, Iloilo for toting a gun replica and a homemade firearm.

Joebert Latoza, 24, of Barangay Pasig, Lambunao, Iloilo and Edward Juanon, 22, of Barangay Tolarucan were detained at the Mina police station on Jan. 15.

Latoza yielded a .9mm pistol replica while a shotgun was recovered from Juanon.

Cops arrested the two men around 9:20 p.m. at the house of Charry Defensor where they were binge drinking.

The suspects face a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Section 28 of the Act punishes the unlawful acquisition, or possession of firearms and ammunition.

On the other hand, Section 35 of the Act states: “An imitation firearm used in the commission of a crime shall be considered a real firearm as defined in this Act and the person who committed the crime shall be punished in accordance with this Act: Provided, That injuries caused on the occasion of the conduct of competitions, sports, games, or any recreation activities involving imitation firearms shall not be punishable under this Act.”/PN
