ILOILO City – If a photojournalist were to be believed, a barangay kagawad of Sta. Felomina, Arevalo district punched him in the abdomen.
The village councilman, however, belied this and said he merely pushed the photojournalist away.
Both, however, agreed on one thing – they had a heated argument on Sunday around 1:45 p.m. on Mabini-Ledesma streets, City Proper.
According to 47-year-old photojournalist Jonavin “Jhay-R” Villalva, he would be suing Barangay Kagawad Eduardo Temolapor, 47, for slight physical injury.
Both have different versions of what happened.
According to Villalva, he spotted a friend slowly driving a car because Mabini-Ledesma streets was congested and they talked for a while.
The driver of the car behind his friend’s was honking as of prodding his friend to drive on, said Villalva.
If the photojournalist were to be believed, he knocked on the window of this driver’s car to supposedly apologize but the driver – who turned out to be Temolapor – was belligerent, and a heated argument ensued, with him ending up being hit in the abdomen.
Temolapor denied getting physical on Villalva. He told Panay News he merely pushed the photojournalist away during their heated confrontation.
“He blocked my way and he knocked hard on my car’s window. Then he arrogantly confronted me,” Temolapor said.
Villalva said it was unreasonable for any driver to drive fast on Mabini-Ledesma streets that time because the area was full of people. The ati-ati tribes competition of the Dinagyang Festival had just wrapped up, he said.
According to Villanueva, Temolapor told him, “Wala ka kilala sa akon? Kagawad ni. Segi ka pasaway sa dalanon (Don’t you recognize me? I’m a barangay councilman. Why are you blocking the street)?”/PN
