BACOLOD City – Councilor Claudio “Kalaw” Puentevella did not attend the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee hearing on the alleged non-release of the emergency cost of living allowance (Ecola) of public school teachers yesterday.
He was supposed to join the inquiry along with Councilor Renecito Novero, chairman of the committee on education.
The city council is investigating the claim that public school teachers have not received three quarters’ worth of Ecola in 2016.
But Novero clarified that while the resolution seeking the inquiry stated that Puentevella shall join the chairman (Novero) during the hearing, the latter councilor does not belong to the education committee.
It may be recalled that the SP approved the resolution seeking the committee hearing — authored by Novero — but rejected the one authored by Puentevella asking Mayor Evelio Leonardia to fast-track the release of the Ecola.
Marc Villadelgado, chief of staff of Puentevella, wrote Novero on Wednesday that his boss cannot attend the hearing due to prior commitments./PN
