BACOLOD City – The public were advised to strictly observe the road closures that the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) is implementing starting today until Sunday for the 12th Bacolaodiat Festival.

Through the local Chinese New Year celebration, this capital city will greet the Year of the Rooster.

Today and tomorrow, the Tourism Strip on Lacson Street (from Cottage Road to 13th Lacson Street) will be partially closed at 2 p.m. and totally closed at 4 p.m. 

Vehicles passing through the area were rerouted.

BTAO head Superintendent Luisito Acebuche said all vehicles taking the Bata-Libertad jeepney route coming from north shall turn right to 13th Lacson Street and turn left to Gatuslao Street toward their point of destination. 

Meanwhile all vehicles taking the Bata-Libertad jeepney route coming from south shall turn left to Cottage Road, turn right to Gatuslao Street, turn right to North Capitol Road, turn left to Aguinaldo Street, turn right to 13th Lacson Street, and turn left to Lacson Street.

All vehicles taking the Mandalagan-Libertad route coming from north shall turn right on 23rd Lacson Street and turn left to Gatuslao Street.

Those taking the Mandalagan-Libertad route coming from south shall turn right to North Capitol Road, turn left to Aguinaldo Street, turn right to 23rd Street, and turn left to Lacson Street.

Fireworks displays will be held on the Tourism Strip today and tomorrow, and at the Bacolod City Government Center on Sunday.

Tomorrow Mayor Evelio Leonardia will also sign an executive order declaring business tycoon Henry Sy Sr. as an “adopted son” and Honorary Mayor of this city. Son Hans Sy will represent his father./PN
