BACOLOD City – Five companies attended the pre-bid conference for environmental and sanitary services at the Bacolod City Government Center.
They were IPM Construction and Development Corp.; FDRCon Company, Inc.; Metrowaste Solid Waste Management Corp.; Plantex Solutions; and Direct Step Construction and Development Corp.
But only two — the IPM and the FRDCon — bought bid documents on Monday, said Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) acting chairman Maphilindo Polvora.
The other three, and other companies interested in bidding for environmental and sanitary services (garbage collection) but have not attended the pre-bid conference, may still buy bid documents on or before the opening of bids on Feb. 20, Polvora stressed.
The Terms of Reference, particularly the number of vehicles required of the contractor, were discussed during the pre-bid conference.
The approved budget for the contract is P150 million, covering March to December.
The IPM Construction and Development Corp. is currently handling garbage collection.
Its contract was supposed to end in December 2016, but the city government extended it until February — with P14,858,356.28 per extension month — to give local officials time for the bidding process.
Polvora clarified the bidding on Feb. 20 is only for garbage collection.
Maintenance of the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa is another service that calls for a separate bidding, he said./PN
