ILOILO City – Thousands of pesos worth of stolen computer units and parts were offered for sale on Facebook.
This helped the police track down a suspect in the burglary of a computer shop in Zone 1, Barangay North Baluarte, Molo district.
But the 21-year-old Jervy Jay Silverio of Zone 3, Barangay Boulevard, Molo denied participating in the robbery. He said he was just told to sell the items and upload their photos on the social networking site.
Shop owner Anthony Alorro, 34, told the police he discovered the burglary around 6:10 a.m. on Thursday.
Inspector Marlon Valencia, Molo police chief, estimated the total cost of the stolen items at P60,000. They included:
* six units of 18.5-inch computer monitors
* ten 4-gigabyte (GB) memory drives
* seven 500-GB hard disks
* three motherboards
* six A6 6400K processors
Citing investigation, Valencia told Panay News the suspect/s “destroyed the padlock of the computer shop door.”
“Alorro himself saw the photos of the items taken from his computer shop on Facebook,” Valencia said in a phone interview.
The items had been returned to the owner. Silverio told the police someone sent him the photos but did not disclose who.
“Wala na sang interes ang tag-iya nga magpasaka kaso kay Silverio,” said Valencia. “Ang importante sa iya nabalik lang ang ginkawat sa iya.”/PN
