Iloilo, D’guete seeded in Bro. Ceci volley semis

BACOLOD City — Teams from Iloilo and Dumaguete cities were seeded for the semifinals of the 6th Bro. Ceci Hojilla Memorial volleyball championship on September 5 to 7 at the University of Saint La Salle (USLS) College Covered Court.

Iloilo City’s Iloilo Doctors’ College and Central Philippine University and Dumaguete City’s Foundation University will vie for the championship in both men and women categories.

In the opening matches last Saturday, USLS and Bacolod Tay Tung High School won their respective matches.

USLS-B defeated the visiting San Carlos City-based Central Philippine State University in the Class A men’s division, 25-19, 25-17, 18-25, and 25-18.

In Class C, USLS-IS prevailed over Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (Chmsc) Alijis Campus, 28-26 and 25-10, in the boys division, while Tay Tung won over the same team, 25-18 and 25-19, in the girls division.

Other teams seeing action in Class A men are USLS-A, Colegio San Agustin–Bacolod (CSA-B), University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos (UNO-R), and Chmsc–Talisay campus.

In Class B men are defending champion APP–Sun.Star, Silay City, Provincial Capitol, LST Volleyball Club, and La Carlota City.

Class A women are CSA-B, UNO-R, and USLS A and B.

In Class B women are Silay City, Provincial Capitol, USLS Sabado Club, Howling Wolves, and La Carlota City.

In Class C (high school) boys are USLS-IS, St. Joseph School–La Salle and Howling Wolves Volleyball Club.

Under Class C girls are St. John’s Institute, USLS-IS, Trinity Christian School, Tay Tung, and SJS-LS.

Organized by the Negros Occidental Volleyball Association, headed by Roger A. Banzuela, the games are played every weekend. The annual championship is sponsored by the USLS Varsity Sports Office./PN
