ILOILO City – Banks, pawnshops and jewelry stores have been alerted about robbery groups operating in Western Visayas.

These armed groups are only waiting for the right opportunity to strike, said Chief Superintendent Josephus Angan, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

“Business establishments have to be extra vigilant. Lawless elements have various modus operandi,” he said.

Angan tasked the PRO-6’s Regional Intelligence Division, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and Security Agency and Guards Unit to step up their monitoring of criminal groups, most especially those engaged in robbery.

But he also appealed for the cooperation of business establishments.

“Crime prevention is always a shared responsibility. Everyone should get involved. The partnership among various stakeholders must be sustained and strengthened, Angan said.

For his part, ICPO director, Senior Superintendent Ruperto Floro tasked his police station chiefs to design proactive measures against crimes.

Iloilo City is teeming with banks, pawnshops and jewelry stores, he said.

“We also encourage the active involvement of the people. Give us information on the presence of armed groups,” Floro said./PN
