BACOLOD City – A public utility jeepney (PUJ) driver from Murcia, Negros Occidental denied sexually assaulting a call center agent here.

The 42-year-old Virgilio Villaflor was accused of robbing and raping the 26-year-old agent in Barangay Mansilingan on Wednesday.

Villaflor appeared at Police Station 7 on Thursday to clear his name, station commander Chief Inspector Charles Gever said in a text message.

At the station, the victim — a married woman — identified Villaflor as one of the two people who attacked her around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, but the latter vehemently denied it, said the police.

In a radio interview, Villaflor said he went to Police Station 7 upon learning from his brother Rodolfo that officers were looking for him.

After driving his PUJ plying the Mansilingan-Central Market route on Tuesday night, he went home to Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, and was at home around the time the incident happened, he said.

Many can testify that he was in their village at the time, Virgilio stressed.

On her way to work on Wednesday, the victim hired a red tricycle in Purok San Jose, Barangay Alijis and asked to be taken to Ubiquity Global Service at the CyberCentre on Lacson Street, police records showed.

She described the driver as a man of medium build aged between 30 and 35 years old and clad in red bull cap and a pair of short jeans.

A back rider — a man of medium build aged between 24 and 25 years old — was on board, too, she told the police.

The victim said the driver took a shortcut in Purok Kabukiran, Barangay Taculing, and then stopped and declared holdup.

Pointing a knife and a gun at the victim, the suspects grabbed her mobile phone worth P4,600 and took her to Purok Kasilingnan 2, Barangay Mansilingan, police said.

They also took her brown sling bag containing a pair of earrings worth P500, a silver necklace worth P1,400 and a thermal flask worth P199 before raping her.

After which, the suspects brought her to the Don Jaime Avenue La Salle Ville, also in Mansilingan, and fled, police said./PN
