ILOILO City – Taekwondo jins from A. Diasnes Gym did the country proud by capturing 11 medals in the two separate online taekwondo competitions held recently.

The Iloilo City-based taekwondo gym took home six medals – three golds, one silver and two bronzes – from the Kim Un-Yong International Taekwondo Championship on Oct. 8.

Cindy Joy Diasnes and Seth Ryan Templanza of Central Philippine University and Elizabeth Marie Borres of Ateneo de Iloilo spearheaded the crew with gold medals each.

Another CPU taekwondo team standout in Kean Ryth Bornazal bagged a silver medal for the crew of coaches Ariel Diasnes, Alfie Diasnes and Flora Navales.

Ateneo de Iloilo’s Antonio Nafarette and Alisha Venice Aguilar, on the other hand, settled for bronze medal finishes in their respective events.

The A. Diasnes team also made their presence felt for the Team Philippines in the 14th World Taekwondo Culture Expo held from October 22 to 26.

The Ilonggo jins finished the tournament hosted by Jeollabuk-do Muju-gun Taekwondo Promotion Foundation with five medals – three golds and two bronzes.

Templanza, Cindy Joy Diasnes and Elizabeth Marie Borres captured gold medals each in poomsae, while Alfie Diasnes and Adriano Horlador III ended up with bronze medals apiece.

“As one of their coaches, I am proud to see them excel and deliver medals not only as a member of A. Diasnes team but also as our country’s representative,” Navales said.

“They also serve as an inspiration to their teammates to continue to train harder and improve. With a proper determination, they can soon achieve their goals in this sport,” she added./PN
