IT WOULD be preposterous to label or tag this Liza Soberano character “communist”. At least not just yet. She probably would not know the difference between dialectical materialism and a fig tree. Or Friedrich Engels and Karl Marx.
For sure she could be any of these:
1. just an out-of-job actress desperately trying to be relevant
2. another trendy social climbing millennial
3. a clever opportunist using the “Oust Duterte” card and “activist image” for profit
4. just your usual entitled beauty but no brain
5. all of the above
Or all of the above?

This “red-tagging” is a phrase coined by the pseudo-communists themselves and picked up and now used extensively by mainstream and social media as some sort of bogeyman to describe how the government identifies them and their support groups.
It is the height of irony that whenever these groups have a public appearance in rallies and demonstrations, they all come out decked in the obvious and typical communists’ costumes, props and paraphernalia i.e. the obvious red color-themed placards, the ubiquitous hammer and sickle and the boring obsolete communist slogans.
Are these people still singing The Internationale? I hope they do because it would not be complete if they don’t?
They created their very own bogeyman and now they’re terrified of it.

It’s supposed to be a beauty contest, nothing to do with your sexual preference. Really, who cares if you’re bisexual or a lesbian? What matters is if you’re up to the beauty standards of the beauty pageant, not who you go to bed with.
That contestant for the Miss Universe Philippines from Cavite is certainly trying to be clever and obtain brownie points from the alugbate crowd…errrrr…I mean, LGBT. I must have inadvertently added some vowels.
Clever certainly. By openly announcing that she’s bisexual, she is not closing her doors to any rich sugar daddy. But if she says she’s an all out and out lesbian, no self-respecting sugar daddy would want to even come close.
Her only hope would be some rich dyke willing to finance her, if they do exist. And I don’t think Maria Ressa qualifies.

Let’s do away with the hypocrisy. These beauty pageants are nothing more than modern versions of the slave markets where female slaves are paraded around for rich buyers to bid.
Most of these contestants usually end up in the arms or in the private jets of millionaires/billionaires.

The other day while waiting for my Café Americano takeout at Starbucks, someone told me she enjoyed reading my columns.
But she said sometimes she finds me too condescending, which might insult and offend some people.
Moi replied, “My dear, I don’t insult people. I just describe them accurately.”
And she countered back, “I simply adore your irreverence.”
That, plus the coffee, made my day.

We segue to a gathering of idiots happening a week ago.
On Oct. 21 some idiots, about a hundred or so, responded to Teddy Casiño’s call for a Day of Defiance. Braving the pandemic and Typhoon Pepito, they gathered at Mendiola with their usual placards and their obsolete slogans, plus the omnipresent effigy burning , calling for the release of “political prisoners” and the ouster of President Rodrigo Duterte.
These fools who belong to the three percent expect President Duterte, supported by 91 percent of the natives, to just step down just because they painted in on their placards. That’s stupidity at its best.
Was Teddy Casiño, Carlos Zarate and the usual suspects even there?
I find it totally stupid for these people to risk being infected with COVID-19 and brave the elements at the beckoning of their so-called leaders.
Either Karl Marx is spinning in his grave or laughing so hard at the gathering of idiots./PN
