MANILA – Rhenz Abando and the Anyang KGC Ginseng Corporation returned to their winning ways in the 2022-2023 Korean Basketball League. They scored a close 83-80 win over Seoul SK Knights on Sunday at the Anyang Indoor Gymnasium.

The former Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights star tallied 15 points, including two triples, to go with three rebounds and two assists. The Anyang KGC remained on top with 21-9 record.

Omari Spellman, formerly of Golden State Warriors in the NBA, led the Anyang KGC with double-double 29 points and 17 rebounds. Byeon Jun-hyeong added 14 markers, while Oh Se-keun and Park Ji-hoon had 13 and 10 markers, respectively.

The come-from-behind victory served as a bounce back for Abando and the Anyang KGC Ginseng Corporation following their stunning 83-85 defeat to Suwon KT Sonic Boom last Friday.

American import Jameel Warney led the way with double-double 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Heo Il-young and Kim Sun-hyung added 18 and 15 markers, respectively, as the SK Knights dropped to 17-13.

Meanwhile, Rhon Jay Abarrientos and Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus snapped their six-game losing skid with an 89-83 domination of Suwon KT Sonic Boom over at the Ulsan Dongchun Gymnasium.

The former Far Eastern University Tamaraws star stepped up with 14 points to go with five assists and four rebounds as the Mobis Phoebus stayed within top four with its 17-13 record.

The match was supposed to be a showdown among two former UAAP standouts but Dave Ildefonso of Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles has yet to make his debut for Sonic Boom.

Gaige Prim led the way for the Mobis Phoebus with double-double 21 points and 14 rebounds, Lee Woo-seok added 18 markers, while former PBA import Henry Sims had eight points and three rebounds.

Ha Yun-gi top-scored with 26 points, while Jarod Jones and former Terrafirma Dyip reinforcement Lester Prosper added 19 and 13 markers, respectively, for the Sonic Boom, which dropped to 13-16./PN
