MANILA – Rhenz Abando and Anyang KGC Ginseng Corporation continued its winning ways in the 2022-2023 Korean Basketball League.It defeated Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus 70-64 on Sunday afternoon at the Daegu Gymnasium.
Abando, the slam dunk champion in the 2022-2023 KBL All-Star, posted just three points to go with four rebounds, two steals and an assist in 17 minutes as Anyang stayed at No.1 spot with 31-11 record.
Omari Spellman led the way on offense for Anyang with 25 points along with eight rebounds, while Byungjun Bae and Oh Se-geun ended with 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
Bacolodnon Samjosef Belangel, on the other hand, finished with eight points, on two outside conversions, to go with two rebounds and one assist as the Pegasus slumped to 13-27 record.
Former San Miguel Beermen import Devon Scott had double-double 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Daesung Lee and Daeheon Lee had 15 and 12 markers, respectively, for Pegasus.
Dave Ildefonso struggled with his offense but it hardly mattered as Suwon KT Sonic Boom scored an 86-73 victory over Calvin Epistola and Jeonju KCC Egis over at the Suwon KT Arena.
Ildefonso, a former member of Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, managed just one points to go with one rebound and one assist in over seven minutes of play as the Sonic Boom increased its record to 18-23.
Ha Yoongi and Hongseok Yang finished with 20 points apiece to lead the winning Sonic Boom, Jung Sung Woo added 18 markers, while Jarrod Jones had double-double 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Filipino-Canadian Epistola, on the other hand, tallied nine points with three assists and two rebounds in almost 20 minutes but the Egis dropped to 17-22 after losing their five matches.
Former Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots import Ricardo Ratliffe, known in Korea as Ra Guna, was the lone bright spot for Egis with double-double 28 points and 16 rebounds./PN
