‘Accept money but vote responsibly’

ILOILO City – The May 2022 elections are fast approaching. Would you accept the money being offered by candidates?

For a former village councilman of Salvacion Habog-habog, Molo district, the situation calls for it.  The money could put food on the table.

He has no permanent job, Ramil Sartorio told Panay News.

“Batunon ko pero botohon ko lang ang bolotohon ko,” he stressed.

He said he would vote for a candidate who is not corrupt and has compassion for the poor.

Tricycle driver Jaylor Ruiz of Barangay Kasing-kasing, Molo district said would also accept the money.

“Huo eh, ginapilit kaw nila mo. Ginahatag nila kundi kuhaon,” said Ruiz.

He, however, said he won’t be selling his principles.

Fear not, Ruiz said, because the candidates would have no way of knowing who the voters voted.

Ruiz also opined: “Ang nagapamakal ‘na boto, nagalagas ‘na sang poder nga magpungko sila. Ang ila ginagasto mabawi nila.”

What’s best is to follow the conscience when voting, he stressed.

“Botohon ang sandig sa imo gugma. Biskan wala sila kwarta, kon maayo man lang iya plataporma, amo ‘na maayo,” said Ruiz.

Rolly of Barangay Luna, La Paz district believes no one would decline “water in the middle of thirst”.

Pigado subong. Nagakinahanglan ang mga tawo sang kwarta,” said Rolly.

However, he said, one must not forget to check on a candidate’s capacity to “lead and hear the people.”

Jessa Camacho of Cabatuan, Iloilo agreed.

“Botohon ko ang kandidato nga wala sang malain nga record kag may pag-ulikid sa tanan. Indi korap, maka-masa kag may kahadlok gid sa Ginoo,” said Camacho./PN
