MANILA – Alaska Aces cruised to its second straight win in the 2017 Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup after a 101-88 domination over GlobalPort Batang Pier last night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Reinforcement LaDontae Henton led the way with double-double 36 points and 21 rebounds.

The Ace tallied its second straight win to improve to 2-6 win-loss slate. It also kept its playoffs hopes alive with the win.
Calvin Abueva added 12 markers while Jvee Casio and Joachim Thoss contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Aces opened the match with a 17-7 lead on hits by Thoss and Henton. The lead grew further to 23-10 after back-to-back treys by Kevin Racal and Henton but the Batang Pier managed to cut the deficit to 18-25 late in the opening period.
The Batang Pier continued its run in the second frame to come to within 35-40 before snatching the lead later at 45-44 on a layup by Jonathan Grey but the Aces quickly regained the lead at 46-45 at the half on a buzzer-beater by Chris Exciminiano.
Batang Pier went on to take the lead at 61-57 early in the third canto behind Mark Cardona and Sean Anthony but the Aces relied on Henton’s hits to force a 67-all deadlock heading into the fourth.
The Aces had a strong start in the fourth behind Abueva and Siverino Baclao to surge to an 84-76 lead. The Batang Pier cut the deficit to 83-88 but the Aces went for a finishing run courtesy of Henton and Casio for a 13 point advantage.
Import Murphy Holloway top-scored with 23 points, while Anthony and Cardona added 19 and 12 points, respectively, for the Batang Pier, which suffered its second straight loss to slid down to 3-5 win-loss mark.
