MANILA – The Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) and Bayan Muna each garnered three party-list seats at the House of Representatives after topping the 2019 midterm elections.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday made the announcement at the Philippine International Convention Center after proclaiming 51 party-list groups out of 134 which joined the party-list elections.
ACT-CIS is to be represented by Eric Yap, Jocelyn Tulfo, and Rowena Niña Taduran, while Bayan Muna will have Carlos Isagani Zarate, Ferdinand Gaite, and Eufemia Cullamat.
With two seats each were Ako Bicol, the Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption, Ang Probinsyano, One Patriotic Coalition of Marginalized Nationals, Marino, and Probinsyano Ako.
One seat each were given to Kabataan, Duterte Youth, Ang Asosasyon sang Mangunguma nga Bisaya-Owa Mangunguma Inc., Abang Lingkod, Abono, Act Teachers, Ako Bisaya, Ako Padayon, Alona, Agap, Amin, Anakalusugan, An Waray, Association of Philippine Electric Cooperatives, A Teacher, Bagong Henerasyon, Bahay, Barangay Health Wellness, Buhay, Construction Workers Solidarity, Coop-National Confederation of Cooperatives, Diwa, Dumper Philippines Taxi Drivers Association, Gabriela, Galing sa Puso Party, Kabayan, Kalinga, Kusug Tausug, Magdalo, Magsasaka, Manila Teachers, Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers Association, Overseas Filipino Workers Family, Patrol, Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta, Rebolusyonaryong Alyansang Makabansa, Rural Electric Consumers and Beneficiaries of Development and Advancement Inc., Sagip, Senior Citizens, Talino at Galing ng Pinoy, Tingog Sinirangan, and Trade Union Congress Party.
Based on Comelec’s computation, a party-list group who got at least two percent of the total number of votes cast in the party-list race will be entitled to at least one seat in the House.
Those which will breach the two-percent threshold will be entitled to additional seats proportionate to the votes they received, but the seats for every winning party-list group shall not exceed three.
Those who failed to reach the two percent threshold may still secure a seat in the House since 20 percent of the members of the House come from the party-list ranks. /PN
