ILOILO City – Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. urged the Office of the Ombudsman to act with dispatch on pending cases.
He specifically asked the Ombudsman to take a look at local government transactions that the Commission on Audit issued disallowances and those referred to it for investigation.
“I believe these should be investigated and resolved much earlier,” said Defensor.
He issued the call during the recent Caravan of Social Services in Badiangan, Iloilo participated by various national government agencies.
Defensor said the Sandiganbayan must have offices in various regions, too.
Without Sandiganbayan offices in the regions, complainants and respondents will have difficulty during hearings in Metro Manila, said the governor,
“It would be a grave injustice…because they could not afford to transport their witnesses,” he said./PN
