MANILA – Adamson University Falcons snapped University of the East Red Warriors’ winning run with a 66-57 triumph in the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball on Wednesday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Jerrick Ahanmisi led the way with 14 points, including two 3-point conversions. Papi Sarr had double-double 12 points and 15 rebounds while Sean Manganti contributed 10 points, all in the second half, for Falcons.

With the victory, Adamson improved to third place with a 6-3 win-loss record behind league-leader Ateneo Blue Eagles (8-0) and De La Salle University Green Archers (7-2).

After a nip-and-tuck battle in the opening quarter, Falcons pulled away on hits by Jerie Pingoy and Terrence Mustre for a 27-20 lead. But Red Warriors turned to Alvin Pasaol to come to within 30-30.

Falcons distanced again in the third 38-32 on hits by Sarr and Ahanmisi but Red Warriors responded with a rally to come to within 41-43. Adamson pulled away anew 59-50 on 5 straight points by Manganti.

Red Warriors made its last run to within 54-59 early in the fourth but Falcons increased its lead for good 66-55 on consecutive baskets from Manganti, Ahanmisi and Kristian Bernardo.

Pasaol top-scored with double-double 22 points and 12 rebounds while Mark Olayon added 16 markers for Red Warriors, which slid to 2-7./PN
