Administrative proceedings begin for San Enrique cops over viral video

BY MA. THERESA LADIAO

ILOILO – Administrative proceedings have begun against several officers of the San Enrique Municipal Police Station (MPS), following a determination of probable cause, announced Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) officer-in-charge, Police Colonel Bayani Razalan.

The decision to proceed came after a pre-charge evaluation that found sufficient evidence to substantiate the claims against the officers.

The case has since been escalated to the Regional Investigation and Detective Management (RIDM) at the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) for further examination and action.

Colonel Razalan, who currently serves as the officer-in-charge, thus limited in his administrative capacities, said the police station chief and seven other officers have been temporarily relieved of their duties.

This measure aims to ensure they do not interfere with the ongoing investigation, he explained.

The inquiry began after an incident where a man seeking assistance at the San Enrique police station was reportedly ignored. He knocked at the closed station but no cop opened for him.

The situation came to light after the man, a vlogger, uploaded a video of him knocking. He had apparently recorded himself.

After the video went viral, the vlogger initially claimed the incident was made-up.

He later disclosed that he was coerced into denying the authenticity of his video to shield the involved police officers.

This revelation has led to broader scrutiny of the police station’s operations./PN
