MANILA – The Philippine Girls Under-15 National Team reached the semifinals of the AFF U15 Girls’ Championship after a 12-0 victory over Timor Leste at the Institute of Physical Education in Chonburi, Thailand.

Bianca Ellaine Sy fired five goals while Jonalyn Lucban and Lanie Ortillo added two conversions each, and Cherry Mae Danoso and Celestina Beatrice Luna had one hit each for the Philippine squad on Tuesday night.

The Philippine squad made its presence felt early with Sy converting back-to-back hits at the seventh and 19th minute.

Danoso and Lucban then fired at 23rd and 35th minute, respectively, for a 4-0 halftime edge.

The onslaught of the Philippines did not stop there. Sy kicked off the second half with back-to-back conversions at the 49th and 51st minute before Ortillo fired one three minutes later for a 7-0 lead.

The Philippines went on to score five more goals— an own goal, Sy at the 56th minute, Luna at the 65th minute and one more each from Lucban and Ortillo to complete a 12-0 domination.

With the victory, the Philippines squad ended its Group A matches at second place with six points on two wins and one loss behind Vietnam which was undefeated in three games.

The Philippines still awaits the outcome in the final day of Group B eliminations to determine its opponent in the crossover semifinals on Sunday night./PN
