Transport of goods and services from the town of Maasin in central Iloilo to nearby towns and Iloilo City will soon be easier and more comfortable with the construction of Aganan Bridge along Mandurriao-San Miguel-Alimodian-Maasin-Cabatuan Road in Alimodian, Iloilo

According to Regional Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr. of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region VI, the bridge is vital as it connects the towns of Maasin and Alimodian, providing access to Iloilo City and other towns in the central Iloilo.

Leaño added that the bridge is designed to carry the latest road capacity required in the DPWH design guidelines, criteria and standards.

The construction of bridge is already completed and the remaining works include construction of slope protection and completion of approaches.

The project, in the amount of P161.80 Million, involves construction of 2 lanes, 6 spans, 30mm PSCG ASSHTO Type IVB Bridge on Bored Pile Foundation, including sidewalk, railings and slope protection.

When completed, the bridge will provide ease and comfort among the locales in the delivery of their agricultural products, thereby increasing their productivity and profit that will boost the socio-economic development in the towns of Alimodian and Maasin.

More importantly, the bridge will be a big help for the residents who, during rainy season, used to wait for the water to subside in order to cross the river, to deliver their goods and products.

Likewise, the project would create an-easy-going access for the public who wish to visit various tourist destinations and gaze the magnificent and exhilarating sceneries that lie beyond the town of Alimodian and its neighboring towns./PN
