MANILA – Japeth Aguilar is not going anywhere after agreeing to a three-year contract extension with the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings ahead of the 2019 PBA season.

The Gilas Pilipinas mainstay, who is being handled by Espiritu Manotoc Basketball Management (EMBM), did not think twice on signing the new contract, which is worth P15.12 million.

“It’s actually the first time I’ve signed a three-year contract with Ginebra and I’m very thankful for their trust,” said Aguilar. “I feel like I’ve learned and grown so much with the Ginebra family, but I still have much to show.”

Kings head coach Tim Cone welcomed the return of the Sasmuan, Pampanga native Aguilar, who was a huge part of Ginebra’s championship run the past few threes easons.

“Japeth has made such spectacular strides in terms of growth over the three years,” said Cone. “Over the last three years, he’s improved in all facets of his game, and he plays with such maturity.”

Meanwhile, aside from Aguilar, the Kings have also extended the contract of Aljon Mariano, who played a key role for the Ginebra during the absence of injured center Gregory Slaughter.

Mariano, a former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers standout, was given a three-year extension after showing his worth in the Governors’ Cup, where he averaged 8.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists./PN
