Aiko Melendez opens up on BF being tagged in ‘narco-list’

Jay Khonghun and Aiko Melendez

AIKO Melendez has opened up about her fears that she could be murdered by social media trolls who sent vile threats to her and boyfriend, politician Jay Khonghun.

The actress said that she never used to think she was in such danger, but the foul comments she received after Khonghun was included in the president’s “narco-list” – an accusation both of them have denied – have changed her view.

“It is yet to be proven but messages like this won’t help at all,” she wrote on Instagram as the caption to an example of the threats they have gotten this past week.

Melendez maintained that her boyfriend has no illegal drug trade connections, but added that they still fear for their safety saying “anybody can just plant anything on us.”

She added that while she supports President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs, as her late father was also a victim of drugs, the decision to release a “narco-list” containing names of politicians just before the elections was questionable, to say the least.

“I stand by Jay Khonghun. He isn’t what you think he is. He is just a man who declared to run for vice governor to serve Zambales but ito ang kapalit. Fifteen years of not being involved in any drug activity in Subic, why only now? Great timing. Elections.”

“I appeal to the people to let the agencies of this list handle everything. And also our president.

“But don’t be too quick to judge. We will not give up our cause of running and serving Zambales because of this setback, instead we will be stronger and get out much-needed love and support from the People who believe in Jay.”

“I will not leave him now that he needs me the most. Only because i know he would do the same if tables were turned around,” she concluded.

Khonghun has already denied the drug involvement allegation that he said was perpetrated by his rival.

Hindi na po namin kailangan gawin na magprotekta ng droga or maging durg lord dahil hindi naman po kami ganun kahirap,” he said. (ABS-CBN News)
