Aklan easing restrictions

KALIBO, Aklan – The province of Aklan has lifted pandemic restrictions on businesses and gatherings as new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) stay low.

Aklan remains under general community quarantine (GCQ) from Oct. 1 to 31.

It has the fifth highest number of COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas with 12,456 of the 130,870 infections or 10 percent of the total cases.

Due to decreasing caseload, Aklan governor Florencio Miraflores has allowed the operation of fitness studios, gyms and swimming pools up to 50 percent of their capacity, while venues for weddings and baptisms as well as conventions, exhibitions, meetings and incentives are also allowed at 30 percent of their seating capacity.

Al fresco (outdoor dining) at 100 percent of seating capacity and indoor dining at 50 percent of seating capacity are also allowed.

Cockfighting and operation of cockpits except e-sabong are allowed, too. Likewise, are the selling, dispensing, transporting and drinking liquor or alcoholic drinks – except, in bars, karaoke bars, clubs, and venues for entertainment with live performances./PN
